you left me bare [27 Oct 2002|09:16am]

This image of our lights touching softly as we lay in the dark. Our bodies naked, and our lips pressed together. I can feel the incline of your breath and the decline of your exhale. I want to breathe each of your breaths for you, and I want to press your hand against my breast, causing my heart to flutter.

My heart can't stop pounding and my lips shivering. You left me last night, naked, and alone. Scared and confused. Your last words beat against my ear as tears dripped down my face. They wouldn't stop, and I couldn't quite figure out why.

I pictured our feet entangled with each other, your hair, against my bare skin. Soft, and pearly white. [only pearly white in the winter.] Our fingers laced within each other, squeezing gently, and smiling endlessly.

Your words left my heart racing, and my fingers shaking, my lips trembling. I could hear each of them, like snow covering softly over mountain tops. Like rain pouring into a lake, placid, and pure. Like my lips settling together against themselves.

You've left me bare, and confused. I lay now, wondering what you mean. What you mean when you say I'm perfect, and beautiful. What you mean when you say you wish we had figured this thing out three years ago. Too many questions, too little time, darling.

But, I'd rather spend all my days with you.

Some of my favorite artists... [11 Aug 2002|06:04pm]

Sinead O'Connor. - You either hate her or love her. I've never really been sure myself. Some of her music is great. Upbeat. Happy. Bouncy. 'Nothing Compares 2 U' is one of my favorites. But than there are really depressing songs. Download some and let me know what you think.

Sarah McLachlan. - Now there's a music artist. Love her. Absolutely *love* her. 'Song For a Winter's Night' has always been one of my favorites.

Avril Lavigne. - All arond talented young girl. I recommend all her songs, especially 'Sk8er boi'.

Michelle Branch. - Where can I begin?

Carole King. - Greatest of the greatest greats. Best Singer-songwriter to walk the earth, if you ask me. I could listen to 'Tapestry' all day and all night all throughout the year.

Res - Fantastic voice. Great band. Lovely music.

I'll post more later.

I noticed it was a little quiet here. Here's a questionaire for everyone:

What do you think of these rising stars? --

- Rufus Wainwright
- Michelle Branch
- Avril Lavigne
- Res

Who is/are your favorite artist(s)? --

What genre music do you listen to most frequently? --

What movie soundtrack do you recommend? --

Are there any poets you would suggest reading the work of? --

I'm a huge fan of Indie music, so this really seems like my kind of place. I'm British, so I'm not sure how many of these bands are big in America, but I really love Mind Over Money by Turin Brakes, or anything by Starsailor (their album, Love Is Here, is great) One more great song - Til The End by Haven

hi i'm bethany (you can call me beffa) and i'm new here. found the link in my friend jen's journal. i haven't written any poetry in a long time, but i've got a notebook full of stuff i did last summer. i'll post some of that soon.

as far as music goes, the best new artist i've discovered is pete yorn. my new boyfriend is trying to get me into some of the music he likes. the strokes and the white stripes are two bands we agree on, and i'll let you know if he introduces me to any other cool bands.

i don't have a lot of time right now, but when i get more time, i'll let you read some of my old poetry.

Okay, so Sunday night I went to an Alanis Morissette concert at Jones Beach. The opening act was Res. I think she traveled with Alanis throughout the tour. But anyway, her voice is incredible and the music is breathtaking. I'd suggest listening to 'Tsunami'. It's byfar one of her best (yes, I came home that night and immediately downloaded as many Res songs as I could find).
In other news:
I have finals starting Friday.
My mother caught me trying to cut today in order to avoid the aggrivating bully at school who wants to "snuff" me (I asked him if I looked like a candle. Turned out the kid didn't know what a candle snuffer was. Taha!).
I just found out I have to do a review History regents.
One of my good friends graduates in a week.
Blehhhh. Oh, well. I'll deal.

Beautiful Ugliness [11 Jun 2002|03:24pm]

I wrote this last year around this time. It was one of my first enties on OpenDiary, but I no longer have it.

The title of my poem is Beautiful Ugliness

Looking in the mirror, she'd see the fine, fresh face of a beautiful 16 year old woman wanting to take on the world

Then she looks harder.

And then she'll see the harsh reality.

A girl that had hopes, dreams....and they all were washed away.

Being startled by the clap of thunder of the spring storm, she'd look at the pale face, and yearn to go back in time. A time of carefree laughter, dancing in the dewy grass, chasing fireflies. A time of days when she could play with the neighborhood kids.

And then I see the ugliness.

And it scares me.

Why? I ask. Why me?

It happens to the best of us. One would say.

All the beautiful ugliness.

*Waves* Hey! Decided to join this community. I'm really feeling No such thing by John Mayer. It's the kind of song you want to listen to on a lazy Sunday. I use to write alot of poetry... but it's crumpled up somewhere. Hmm.

Welcome to papertosound - the community where music is love, poetry is joy and friendship is everything.
I'm not exactly sure if this community is going to make it big. It'd definately be neat. But, for now, a couple of notes:

- Please let us know about any new musicians you've discovered.- If you'd like us to hear some of your music, feel free to
- If you're interested in having your work commented on, please post any poetry here (with a live journal cut, of course)
link us to it somehow (I'm not a computer person and wouln't know where to begin)
- You aren't limited to music and writing, y'know. If you need advice, or to rant, so be it. It's about friendship. And friends listen and want to help.

Welcome to papertosound!
